Monday to Friday shift finishing after 6pm and up to 11:30pm, paid for the whole shift (cl 20.1, 20.4). Casuals get it in addition to their 25% casual loading
Any shift that is not a day or afternoon shift — a flat loading for the whole shift (cl 20.1(a)(ii)). Casuals get it in addition to the casual loading
The whole rostered shift when most of it falls on a Saturday, instead of any shift penalty (cl 21.1(a), 21.3). Casuals are paid the weekend rate in addition to their casual loading (cl 21.2)
The whole rostered shift when most of it falls on a Sunday. A Saturday night shift running into Sunday is paid the Sunday rate for all hours (cl 21.1(b)–(c))
All ordinary time worked on a public holiday (cl 25.4(a)). Casuals are paid 250% instead of the casual loading (cl 25.4(b))

On each ordinary hour (cl 11.5). Casual overtime is calculated on the casual hourly rate (cl 22.3(b))
Notes
- •Covers nurses and midwives at Calvary's four Tasmanian private hospitals: Lenah Valley and St John's in Hobart, and St Luke's and St Vincent's in Launceston.
- •Rates are the hourly figures printed in Schedule A of the agreement. A full-time nurse works 38 hours a week, so the annual figure is the hourly rate × 38 × 52.167.
- •Three rate steps are shown, each from the first full pay period on or after the date: 1 July 2026 (+3.5%), 1 January 2027 (a restructure — the increase differs by pay point) and 1 January 2028 (+3%). The 1 July 2026 step pre-dates the agreement starting on 11 August 2026. The earlier 1 July 2025 step is not shown.
- •From 1 January 2027 Registered Nurse / Midwife Level 1 gains an 8th-year pay point. The agreement does not say how nurses already on the 7th year move to it — check with your manager or payroll.
- •The allowance schedule prints no 1 January 2027 column, so the 1 July 2026 allowance amounts continue until 1 January 2028.
- •Overtime meal allowances and the kilometre allowance follow the Nurses Award 2020 amounts, adjusted from the first full pay period after the award changes (cl 14.1, 14.3, 14.4). The first meal applies when overtime runs more than an hour past your usual finish, and a second when it runs past four hours.
- •Only the highest penalty applies — penalties are not added together (cl 2.2(e)). Overtime rates replace shift, weekend and public holiday penalties rather than adding to them (cl 22.2(b)).
- •Recall to work is paid at overtime rates with a minimum of 4 hours for the first recall and 3 hours for each later one, and travel time counts as time worked. A recall within 2 hours of your normal start pays the first 4 hours at double time. Close call (on call within the hospital precinct) pays at least 6 hours at your normal rate (cl 14.7).
- •Public holidays are those gazetted by the Tasmanian Government. Launceston employees also observe the Launceston Cup half-day holiday, as one half of any rostered ordinary shift that day (cl 25.2–25.3).
- •Theatre and endoscopy staff can opt, once a calendar year, to be paid time and a half for a public holiday worked and bank a day of ordinary time instead of the 250% rate (Schedule 1 cl 5).
- •Part-time staff and casuals who work extra hours up to the rostered daily full-time hours are paid ordinary time, not overtime (cl 22.3(a)). Casuals are paid a minimum of 3 hours per engagement (cl 18.6).
- •Annual leave loading is 17.5%. Shift workers get the higher of 17.5% or the shift and weekend penalties they would have earned (cl 23.7). Personal leave is 152 hours a year for full-time staff (cl 26.2), and up to 4 days of paid professional development leave a year are available (cl 34.1).
