Notes
- •Covers nurses and midwives at Calvary John James Hospital, Deakin (cl 4.1). Calvary Bruce Private Hospital has its own agreement.
- •Rates are the hourly figures printed in Schedule A of the agreement as varied by the Fair Work Commission in February 2025 ([2025] FWCA 636), which corrected several allowance amounts. A full-time nurse works 38 hours a week, so the annual figure is the hourly rate × 38 × 52.167.
- •Rates shown are from the first full pay period on or after 1 March 2026 (+2.75%), the last step printed in the agreement.
- •The agreement reaches its nominal expiry on 28 February 2027. It keeps applying after that date, and these rates continue, until a replacement agreement is approved.
- •Public holiday pay depends on your annual leave group. The standard rate is 250%. Full-time and part-time staff who earn the 5th week of leave for shift and weekend work are paid 150% plus any shift or weekend penalty and get extra annual leave for the hours worked; full-time staff rostered on public holidays at the reduced rate get two extra weeks of leave a year instead (cl 29.3, 27.4). Casuals are always paid 250%.
- •The 5th week of annual leave is earned by working 40 afternoon, night, Saturday or Sunday shifts or recalls, or 13 weekend shifts, in a service year (cl 27.4(a)). Leave loading is the higher of 17.5% or the shift and weekend penalties you would have earned (cl 27.5).
- •Registered Nurse / Midwife Level 4 does not get shift or weekend penalties or the on-call allowance.
- •Overtime meal allowances and the kilometre allowance follow the Nurses Award 2020 amounts (cl 15.1).
- •Recall to work pays a minimum of 3 hours at overtime rates; remote work by phone pays a minimum of 1 hour. When not on call, travel time to work — and usually home again — counts as time worked (cl 24.6).
- •Ordinary hours worked without an 8-hour break between shifts are paid at 200% (cl 19.4). A missed meal break by the 6th hour pays 200% until the break is taken (cl 21.1(c)). Casuals have a 3-hour minimum engagement and are paid in full for a shift cancelled with less than 2 hours' notice (cl 20.2, 10.3).
- •Personal leave is 112 hours a year for full-time staff (cl 30), and full-time staff can take up to 24 hours of paid professional development leave a year, or 32 hours with all mandatory training complete (cl 45.1).
