Notes
- •Covers nurses and midwives at Calvary Bruce Private Hospital and Calvary Hyson Green Mental Health in Bruce, ACT (cl 4). Calvary John James Hospital has its own agreement, and North Canberra Hospital is a public hospital.
- •Rates are the hourly figures printed in Schedule A. A full-time nurse works 38 hours a week, so the annual figure is the hourly rate × 38 × 52.167.
- •Three rate steps are shown, each from the first full pay period on or after the date: 1 March 2026 (+2.75%), 1 March 2027 (+3.00%) and 1 March 2028 (+2.50%). Earlier steps from 2024 and 2025 are not shown.
- •Public holiday pay depends on your annual leave group. With 4 or 5 weeks' leave, ordinary hours on a public holiday are paid at 250%. Staff who agree in advance to work public holidays get two extra weeks of annual leave (6 or 7 weeks in total) and are paid 150% plus any applicable shift or weekend penalty instead (cl 28.2(b), 30.4). Casuals are always paid 250%.
- •Staff in the 6 or 7-week group who ask not to work 5 public holidays in a calendar year, or withdraw their agreement, may be moved back to the 4 or 5-week group and the 250% rate (cl 30.3).
- •Annual leave is 4 weeks, plus a 5th week for working 40 early morning, afternoon or night shifts, or 13 weekend shifts, in a service year (cl 28.2(a)). Leave loading is the higher of 17.5% or the shift and weekend penalties you would have earned (cl 28.4).
- •Registered Nurse Level 4 does not get shift or weekend penalties, overtime or the clause 15 allowances (including on call).
- •Recall to work while on call pays a minimum of 3 hours at overtime rates; remote work by phone pays a minimum of 1 hour. Recall when not on call also pays a minimum of 3 hours, with travel time counted (cl 25.9).
- •The kilometre allowance follows the Nurses Award 2020 rate (cl 15.5(b)).
- •Ordinary hours worked without a 9-hour break between shifts are paid at 200% (cl 20.4). Casuals have a 4-hour minimum engagement and are paid in full for a shift cancelled with less than 2 hours' notice (cl 21.5, 21.8).
- •Personal leave is 136.8 hours (18 days) a year for full-time staff (cl 31), and full-time staff can take up to 24 hours of paid professional development leave a year (cl 50.1).
