Notes

  • •Rates are the hourly tables (Appendix B1, B5 and B9). The nurses in this tab work 37.5 hours a week, 1,950 hours a year, which the annual figures here use. Hospital RNs on 12-hour shifts work 42 hours a week and have their own tab.
  • •Pay is by job-evaluated pay range with 6 steps. The ranges shown are the ones the Government of Nunavut advertises for each nursing job; check your offer letter for yours.
  • •You move up one step a year on the anniversary of your most recent appointment. New nurses start one step up for each year of related experience, up to Step 6 (MOU 12 clause 23).
  • •General increases: 3% on 1 October 2025, 3% on 1 October 2026 and 2.5% on 1 October 2027.
  • •The agreement runs from 1 October 2024 to 30 September 2028.
  • •The Northern Allowance is a yearly amount by community, from Iqaluit (lowest) to Grise Fiord (highest). Indeterminate nurses can choose to take it as one lump sum instead of every two weeks.
  • •Overtime meal: after three or more hours of overtime when you can’t leave, a meal or the Nunavut duty-travel dinner rate (Article 23.06), which follows federal travel rates.
  • •Signing and retention bonuses, the temporary labour market supplement and language allowances are paid under their own conditions; see MOU 12 and Article 24 of the agreement.
