Notes

  • •Rates are hourly, as printed in Schedule A (the yearly salary ÷ 1,950). Full-time is 75 hours a fortnight: an 8-hour shift pays 7.5 hours and a 12-hour shift pays 11.25 hours. The yearly figures shown are the hourly rate × 1,950 hours (37.5 × 52). Public Health Nurses employed by the Province divide by 1,820 instead.
  • •The last rise in this agreement was 2% from 1 July 2025. Nurse practitioners are on their own NP scale.
  • •You move up one step after each 12 months of service. New hires are placed by experience: under 2 years at Step 1, 2 years at Step 2, and so on up to Step 6 at 6 or more years.
  • •The agreement expired on 30 June 2026 and continues year to year until a new one replaces it (Art. 51.01). Bargaining began in January 2026 and no new rates have been agreed, so the 1 July 2025 rates still apply. Any increase is likely to be back-paid.
  • •A 2026 transition agreement made one provincial bargaining unit for all RNUNL members at NL Health Services, including St. Patrick's Mercy Home, the Agnes Pratt Home, Saint Luke's Home and the Salvation Army Glenbrook Lodge. It didn't change pay rates.
  • •The Long Service Pay Premium is printed as "15 year – 1%; 20 year – 15 year plus 2%; 25 year – 20 year plus 2%". MyRoster reads these as 1%, 3% and 5% in total. It's for permanent nurses only, by years as an RN and/or NP.
  • •Casual nurses get 20% of basic salary instead of vacation, holidays, sick leave and similar benefits. Part-time nurses get those benefits pro rata, and the hourly rate is the same yearly salary ÷ 1,950.
  • •Holidays for hospital nurses: New Year's Day, Good Friday, Commonwealth Day, Memorial Day (1 July), Labour Day, Christmas Day and Boxing Day, plus two agreed each year, which are Thanksgiving and Armistice Day unless your site agreed others. Each holiday is a 7.5-hour credit on 8- and 12-hour schedules alike, and runs from 00:01 to 24:00. Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve aren't holidays. Public Health Nurses employed by the Province have a longer list.
  • •Labrador Benefits Agreement (1 April 2022 to 31 March 2026): a yearly Labrador Allowance, pro rata by hours worked excluding overtime. From 1 April 2025: Group 1 (Happy Valley-Goose Bay, North West River, Sheshatshiu, Wabush, Labrador City and Churchill Falls) $4,529 single or $8,939 with dependants; Group 2 (for example Red Bay, L'Anse au Loup, Cartwright and Mary's Harbour) $5,225 or $10,311; Group 3 (for example Rigolet, Makkovik, Hopedale and Nain) $5,459 or $10,755. A yearly Travel Allowance is paid on the first pay after 15 April: Group 1 $1,425 plus $1,053 per dependant, Group 2 $1,502 plus $1,131, Group 3 $1,581 plus $1,209. The Labrador agreement expired on 31 March 2026 with no successor published.
