Step 1: Pick the day.
On the Roster, tap the day you're on call.
Step 2: Open the add menu.
Tap the + button at the top of the screen.
Step 3: Choose Add Manually.
Tap Add Manually. The Add Entry screen opens.
Step 4: Open the On Call tab.
Tap the On Call tab along the top. The button at the top right now says Add On Call.
Step 5: Templates.
On-call templates you save show at the top. Same on call every week? Save Template keeps it for next time.
Step 6: Check the times.
The usual on-call times fill in for you. Different hours? Tap a time and spin the wheel. In this example, we keep 5:00 pm to 8:00 am.
Step 7: Extra Days and Vehicle care.
Scroll down a little. On call for a whole weekend? Add Extra Days. Looking after a police car? Turn on Vehicle care.
Step 8: The rest of the form.
Call-Outs is for when you're called in. We come back to it later. Details has the location, a tag and notes. The Pay Summary shows your on-call allowance.
Step 9: Add the on call.
Tap Add On Call at the top right. Your on call is on the roster, marked OC.
Step 10: See your allowance.
Tap the day, then swipe the box up to see more. Tap Allowances to open it and see your On-Call Allowance.
Step 11: Called in later? Edit the on call.
Close the box with the X, then tap the pencil at the top. The Edit On Call screen opens.
Step 12: Switch on I Was Called In.
Under Call-Outs, switch on I Was Called In, then scroll down a little.
Step 13: Check the call-out type.
Police have two kinds of call-out. In this example, we keep Recall to duty.
Step 14: Enter the hours.
Tap Hours Worked and type the hours you worked. We typed 2.
Step 15: Times Called In.
Called in more than once? Change Times Called In. We kept 1.
Step 16: Set when you were called.
Tap Called In At, spin the wheel to the time you were called, then tap outside the wheel to close it. We used 10:00 pm.
Step 17: Don't add it twice.
Don't also add these hours as Overtime.
Step 18: Check the pay.
Scroll down to the Pay Summary. Called Back In is the pay for your call-out. You're paid at least 3 hours, even for a short call-in. The Estimated Total goes up too.
Step 19: Save it.
Tap Save at the top right.
Step 20: See the call-out on your roster.
Tap the day again and swipe the box up. Tap Overtime to open it. Your call-out shows as Recall, with its minimum payment.
Step 21: Made a mistake?
Close the box with the X, then tap the trash at the top. Tapping Delete removes the on call. In this example, we keep it, so we tap outside the box.
Good to know
- One thing, four names: the Call-Outs section, the I Was Called In switch, Called Back In in the Pay Summary and Recall on your roster all mean the time you were called back to work.
- The on-call allowance is the same every day of the week: one amount for under 24 hours, and a higher amount for each full 24 hours.
- Templates keep the times, Extra Days, Vehicle care, location and tag. They don't keep the date, call-outs or notes.
- On call can't repeat, and can't be added with Quick Add. Add it one day at a time from + › Add Manually.
- Switched on I Was Called In but left Hours Worked empty? Saving asks for the hours. Or turn the switch off.
- Called In At starts at your on-call start time. A time earlier than the start counts as the next morning.
- With Extra Days added, Called In On lets you pick which day you were called in.
- Called in more than once? Enter the total hours for all call-ins and set Times Called In.
- On call and a shift can share a day. The pencil then asks which entry you want to edit.
- On a public holiday the allowance stays the same, but the call-out is paid more.
- Your pay day summary shows the same two lines: On-Call Allowance and Recall.
- What the On Call form shows depends on your job and award. Jobs on Custom Pay Rules set their own on-call pay (see the Custom Pay Rules tutorial).
- To delete entries, see the Quick Add, Edit and Delete tutorial.
