Step 1: Pick the day.
On the Roster, tap the day you worked.
Step 2: Open the add menu.
Tap the + button at the top of the screen.
Step 3: Choose Add Manually.
Tap Add Manually. The Add Entry screen opens. Leave, overtime and on-call have their own tabs along the top.
Step 4: Start from a template.
Under Templates, tap the one closest to your shift. We used Morning.
Step 5: Check the date and times.
The start and end times fill in for you. Tapped the wrong day? Change the Date here. To change a time, tap it, spin the wheel, then tap outside the wheel to close it. We changed the end time to 4:30 pm. Finishing after midnight? Just set the end time; it counts into the next day.
Step 6: Make it your own.
Scroll down to Details. You can add a location, a Role Tag, your own shift code or a colour. Tap the smiley for an emoji tag, or the rainbow circle for any colour. Change only what you want; everything here is optional. In this example, we add a tag and a colour.
Step 7: Add a Role Tag.
Tap Role Tag and type a short tag, like ED.
Step 8: Pick a colour.
Under Shift Color, tap a colour so the shift stands out on your roster. We used teal.
Step 9: Check the unpaid break.
An unpaid break is taken off automatically: 30 minutes for shifts over 5 hours, and 1 hour for shifts over 10 hours. If your break is different, turn on Custom Break Override and set it. We set 45 minutes.
Step 10: Check your allowances.
Further down are your Allowances. Switch on any that apply to this shift. In this example we leave them off.
Step 11: Save it as a template.
Scroll back up to the top and tap Save Template.
Step 12: Name your template.
Type a name, like ED Early, then tap Save at the top right.
Step 13: Use your new template.
Your new template appears with the others. The pencil on a tile changes that template, and the trash removes it. Tap your new template. Next time, you can start here.
Step 14: Add the shift.
Tap Add Shift. The shift appears on your roster in your colour, with its tag.
Step 15: See your pay.
Tap the day to see what you'll earn for that shift.
Good to know
- Shortcut: press and hold an empty day on the Roster to open Add Entry straight away.
- Tapping a template only fills in the form. Nothing is saved until you tap Add Shift.
- What a template remembers: the times, shift code, location, Role Tag, colour, unpaid break, Penalty Rates and In Charge settings, and any custom allowances. It doesn't keep the date, repeats, or one-off allowances like Lead Apron and On Call During Meal Break.
- Deleted a built-in template? Bring it back in Settings › Help › Advanced › Restore Default Templates.
- The letter on the calendar (A, P or N) is picked from your start time, and shifts of 11 hours or more show 12D or 12N. Type a Custom Shift Code to use your own instead.
- Turn off Show Shift Code to hide the letter on the calendar.
- Everything under Details is optional. The Role Tag can be up to 8 characters. An emoji from the smiley replaces the typed tag.
- Leave Penalty Rates on unless this shift isn't paid penalties.
- The allowances you see depend on your job and award. Switch on only the ones that apply to that shift.
- You can set a default location in Settings › Work Profile › Shift Defaults.
