  1. Step 1: Pick the first day.

    • Tap the first day of your pattern.
  2. Step 2: Open the add menu.

Tap the + button at the top of the screen.

    • Tap the + button at the top.
  3. Step 3: Choose Add Manually.

Tap Add Manually. The Add Entry screen opens.

    • Tap Add Manually.
  4. Step 4: Set the shift.

Start from a template, or set the start and end times yourself. We used the Day (12hr) template.

    • Start from a template, or set the times yourself.
    • In this example, we'll use Day (12hr).
  5. Step 5: Turn on repeating.

Scroll down to Repeat and turn on Add Multiple Shifts.

    • Scroll down to Repeat.
    • Turn on Add Multiple Shifts.
  6. Step 6: Choose how it repeats.

Weekly repeats on the days you choose. Monthly repeats on the same date each month. Pick Dates lets you tap any days you like. We used Weekly.

    • It can repeat every week, every month, or on dates you pick.
    • Monthly repeats on the same date each month.
    • Pick Dates lets you tap any days you like.
    • In this example, we'll use Weekly.
  7. Step 7: Rotating roster? Repeat every few weeks.

Tap + next to Every week to repeat every 2 to 8 weeks. Each week then gets its own row of days.

    • Tap + for every 2 to 8 weeks. Great for rotating rosters.
    • Now each week has its own row of days.
  8. Step 8: Choose the days.

Tap the days for each week. The day you started from is already picked, so leave it on. We kept Monday and added Tuesday in the first week, and Wednesday and Thursday in the second.

    • Choose the days for each week.
    • In this example, we keep Monday and add Tuesday…
    • …then Wednesday and Thursday in week two.
  9. Step 9: Choose when it ends.

Tap Ends and choose On a Date or After a Number of Shifts. We kept On a Date.

    • Choose when it ends: on a date, or after a number of shifts.
    • In this example, we'll keep On a Date.
  10. Step 10: Set the last day.

Tap End Date, tap the last day of the pattern, then tap outside the calendar to close it. We stopped on 18 December.

    • Tap End Date and pick the last day. We'll stop on 18 December.
    • Tap outside the calendar to close it.
  11. Step 11: Leave rostered days alone.

Skip Days Already Rostered is on, so days that already have a shift or leave are left out. If you turn it off, orange dots show the days that clash, and those days get a second shift.

    • Scroll down a little.
    • Skip Days Already Rostered is on: days with a shift are left out.
    • Turn it off and orange dots show the clashes.
    • In this example, we'll leave it on.
  12. Step 12: Check the shifts.

"This will create … shifts" shows how many will be added. Tap Show all to check every date.

    • Check how many shifts it will add.
    • Tap Show all to check every date.
  13. Step 13: Add them.

Tap Add Shift at the top right. Every shift in the pattern appears on your roster.

    • Tap Add Shift.
    • Your shifts are on the roster.
  14. Step 14: Check a shift.

Tap any of the days to see that shift and its pay. Swipe the box up to see more. The Repeat label means it's part of your pattern.

    • Tap a day to see the shift.
    • Swipe the box up to see more.
    • Repeat means it's part of your pattern.
  15. Step 15: Made a mistake?

Touch and hold one of the new shifts, then tap Delete (or tap the day, then the trash button at the top). Because it's part of a repeat, MyRoster asks whether to delete just that shift, that shift and the later ones, or all the shifts in the repeat. To keep them, tap outside the box.

    • Made a mistake? Touch and hold one of the new shifts…
    • …then tap Delete 12D Shift.
    • It asks: just this shift, this one and later ones, or all of them?
    • In this example, we'll keep them, so tap outside the box.

Good to know

  • You can repeat every week or up to every 8 weeks, and a repeat can run for up to one year.
  • If you untick the day you started from, that day isn't added.
  • Pick Dates has no end date: it adds just the days you tap.
  • Days left out by Skip Days Already Rostered don't count towards After a Number of Shifts.
  • Monthly repeats skip months that don't have that date (for example the 31st).
  • The week rows start on the day set in Settings › Calendar › Week Starts On.
  • Overtime and events can repeat too: use the same Repeat box on the Overtime and Event tabs.
  • Templates don't save the repeat. Pick the template, then set the repeat each time.
  • Each repeating shift is its own shift, paid for its own day.
  • Changing one of the shifts later asks the same question: just this shift, this one and later ones, or all of them. More in Change or delete repeating shifts.
  • Nothing is added until you tap Add Shift.
